The bulk of our iron ore production comes from Ringside mine, with most of it being exported. We mine by opencast methods and then transport the ore to the beneficiation plant where it is crushed, screened and beneficiated. We beneficiate our products through dense media separation and jig technology. The jig plant at Ringside mine is one of the most refined in the world. At Ringside we produce iron ore products which meet different specifications, according to our customers’ needs.

- Breaks down less during reduction in the top part of the blast furnace. This means there is lower fines formation in the blast furnace, which increases permeability of the burden and less coke is needed.

- Increased sinter plant productivity as a result of a coarser fine ore so this counters the finer sinter feed material in the market, thereby increasing permeability.

The Art and Science of DMS

Medium suspensions play an integral part in the successful application of dense medium separation for both static and dynamic separators. Although models exist to predict particle movement as a function of medium density and viscosity, these models have been derived on the assumption of Newtonian rheology. Viscosity measurements of medium suspensions have shown that they are non-Newtonian, with a yield stress, and as such cannot be used in the existing models. As a result, medium selection remains an art based upon practical experience and indirect measurements of viscosity such as stability and cyclone differentials.

Wet plant process accuracies

In the wet processing, there is loss of material, which is directed to the tailings dams. In the dry processing, 100% of the iron ore is processed and commercialized.

Scrubber specialists

Scrubbing is an integral washing step employed in the beneficiation of many types of ores and minerals, helping to remove contaminants and gangue and ultimately improve recovery of the target material. Rotary scrubbers are often used in this role; while a variety of equipment types exist for scrubbing ore, the rotary scrubber, a type of rotary drum, offers a few key advantages that have made it the preferred approach to scrubbing at many mines and quarries.

Crusher quality and productivity

The common problem in the iron ore crushing production line is that the wear parts of the fine crusher are seriously worn out, and the repair and maintenance of the fine crusher are too frequent, which makes the production efficiency of the iron ore crushing production line lower. Therefore, the selection of an efficient and wear-resistant iron ore crusher will greatly increase production efficiency while reducing production costs.

Jig perfection

Jigging process is an ore concentration process which is carried out in any fluid whose effectiveness depends on differences in the density of the granular mineral particles. It consists of separation of the particles into layers of different specific gravities followed by the removal of the separated layers.
